We make one beer: Alberta Landbier Lager, brewed to showcase the province’s unique terroir.
Using traditional Czech decoction methods paired with ancient floor-malting practices, and Alberta barley grown by farmers we know by name, we make a single beer that expresses a vivid sense of place.
It’s premium quality without pretense.
It’s elevated, but simple.
It’s timeless, not trendy.
It’s beer that belongs at the dinner table.
It’s Bread Water.

What is Landbier
Landbier is an old term that literally means “country beer,” and it refers to a beer that is brewed using a traditional brewing method while utilizing hyper-local ingredients and/or recipes. We are brewing a Czech-inspired landbier, which means we are using the highly respected Czech decoction mashing methods, but instead of using Czech grains, we’ve chosen to showcase Alberta barley.
Meet The Makers
Beer began as a humble drink that people made in their kitchens- a household staple, part of daily sustenance. The first beers were brewed in ancient Sumeria by a matriarch who fermented their family's bread recipe, essentially creating “bread water”.
Husband and wife team Blake Enemark and Alexa Gilker wanted to make a beer that honoured and returned to those roots. They loved the idea that the first beers were “bread water”, clarifying their focus on the grain side of beer, but also encompassing what beer represents to them– a beverage made with special, thoughtful ingredients brewed to sustain the people they love.
