We make Alberta landbier lager, brewed to showcase the province’s unique terroir.
Using traditional Czech decoction methods and Alberta grains from farmers we know by name, we make a single beer that expresses a vivid sense of place.
It’s premium quality without pretense.
It’s elevated, but simple.
It’s timeless, not trendy.
It’s beer that belongs at the dinner table.
It’s Bread Water.
WHERE TO DRINK
Currently Bread Water is only available to enjoy on draft at select bars and restaurants across Alberta:
Rain Dog Bar (Calgary)
Ten Foot Henry (Calgary)
Slow Pour (Edmonton)
If you want to take our beer home to your dinner table, Collective A Craft Beer Shop in SE Calgary pour our draft beer in crowlers to go.
What is Landbier
Landbier is an old term that literally means “country beer,” and it refers to a beer that is brewed using a traditional brewing method while utilizing hyper-local ingredients and/or recipes. We are brewing a Czech-inspired landbier, which means we are using the highly respected Czech decoction mashing methods, but instead of using Czech grains, we’ve chosen to showcase Alberta barley.
Meet The Makers
Beer used to be a humble drink that people made in their kitchens. A household staple, part of daily sustenance, brewed by a matriarch by fermenting their family's bread recipe.
Alexa Gilker and Blake Enemark wanted to make a beer that honoured and returned to those roots.
